How do you start your day?

After our team fabricated and installed this beautiful sign in the interior of the ABC Store located in the beautiful Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort, it made me really contemplate, "How DO I really start my day?"
I don't know about you, but my day would start off a little something like this. "Expletive (be creative)! Ughh, it's too early to get up!" Meanwhile the negative attitude and negative self-talk hits. Then in the car, you stop at every single stop light, drivers all of a sudden don't know how to merge nor do they signal their intentions to change lanes.
Everything that I thought, did and spoke into existence at the beginning of my day was negative, negative, negative. Holy smokes! What an eye-opener this was for me. Because of this awareness, I knew I had to make a change because I felt that if I start my morning that way, my whole day is ruined, and I felt it manifest in my physical body. I knew then and there my morning routine needed an overhaul.
I now wake up with a sense of gratitude. I thank God for another day. I refrain from any negative self talk. I stretch and do deep breathing (the yogi in me shining through). I get some exercise in and bike on the Peleton to get my heart pumping, which I now find contributes to a better night's rest. I have become much nicer on the road (trust, it's a work in process). I try to avoid anything I know that would cause detriment to my mental health (can't avoid them all though). Drinking an iced espresso also helps elevate the mood too!
No way am I an expert nor do I claim to be perfect. No one's perfect; I definitely am NOT perfect. However, everyday is a new day to live your life in a positive way. I knew I had to take the steps to make changes, even though it seems like small steps. It's moving forward nonetheless. Whether I do all or just even one of these changes that I set out for myself, I know it's coming from a place of Aloha. Aloha for Akua (God), Aloha for myself, and Aloha for others.
